Dulux Multi Surface Primer & Undercoat is a water-based primer that sticks to almost anything, indoors and out. It’s the go-to preparation coat when you’re painting over difficult or mixed surfaces — wood, MDF, plaster, masonry, metal, PVCu, melamine, tiles and previously glossed surfaces all take it without needing different specialist primers for each one.

It dries fast (touch dry in 30 minutes, recoatable in 2 hours), is low odour, and provides a solid foundation for whatever topcoat you put over it — emulsion, eggshell, satinwood or gloss.

• Bare or previously painted wood and MDF

How to Apply Dulux Multi Surface Primer & Undercoat

1. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, grease and loose material
2. Lightly sand glossy or very smooth surfaces to give the primer a key
3. Stir thoroughly before use
4. Apply with a brush or roller in smooth, even strokes
5. Touch dry in 30 minutes; recoatable after 2 hours
6. One coat is sufficient on most surfaces — apply a second coat on very porous or dark surfaces
7. Once dry, apply your chosen topcoat

Coverage

Dulux Multi Surface Primer & Undercoat covers up to 12m² per litre. A 250ml tin covers approximately 3m²; a 750ml tin approximately 9m²; a 2.5L tin approximately 30m². Coverage will vary depending on surface porosity and texture.
