Johnstones Trade Anti Slip Additive 1.5kg

£25.00 inc VAT£20.83 ex VAT

Stirs into your floor paint and turns a smooth surface into one you can walk on when it's wet. Silica quartz powder, so it's genuinely tough rather than a coating that wears off. You control the texture: half a kilo per 5 litre tin for a domestic garage, up to two kilos for a loading bay or a ramp. Works with any Johnstone's Trade floor coating. 1.5kg pack.

Please note colour swatches are not exact representations of the colours and will vary in apperance on screen.

Not sure how much paint you need?

Johnstone’s Trade Anti-Slip Additive turns a smooth floor coating into a slip-resistant one. It is a silica quartz powder that you stir into the paint just before you use it, giving the finished surface enough texture to grip underfoot.

That matters anywhere a floor gets wet. Warehouse entrances, loading bays, ramps, and garage floors are all fine until it rains, and a smooth painted concrete floor becomes genuinely dangerous. Adding this at mixing stage solves the problem in the same coat.

Key Features of Johnstone’s Trade Anti-Slip Additive
  • Silica quartz-based additive powder
  • Works with all Johnstone’s Trade floor coatings
  • Very tough and durable
  • Creates a slip-resistant surface
  • Mixes in at 0.5kg to 2kg per 5 litre tin
  • Lets you control how much texture you want
  • 1.5kg pack

Where to Use
  • Garage and workshop floors
  • Warehouse floors, aisles, and loading bays
  • Ramps and sloped surfaces
  • Steps and stairwells
  • Walkways and external concrete
  • Anywhere a painted floor is likely to get wet

How to Use Johnstone’s Trade Anti-Slip Additive
  1. Prepare and prime the floor as the floor coating instructions require.
  2. Open your tin of floor paint and stir it thoroughly first.
  3. Add the additive just before use, not in advance.
  4. Use 0.5kg per 5 litre tin for a light texture, up to 2kg for a heavily trafficked area.
  5. Mix thoroughly so the quartz is evenly suspended through the paint.
  6. Stir again periodically while you work, as the powder will settle.
  7. Apply the coating as normal, then allow it to cure fully before use.

Choosing Your Mix Rate

The rate is up to you and depends on the job. Half a kilo in a 5 litre tin gives a subtle grip suitable for a domestic garage. Two kilos gives an aggressive texture for a ramp or a busy loading bay. Bear in mind that the more you add, the coarser the finish and the harder the floor is to sweep and mop, so match it to how the space is actually used.

Coverage

A 1.5kg pack treats between 3 and 15 litres of floor paint, depending on the texture you want. Retailers also cite a sprinkle-on method at around 0.5kg to 1kg per m² as a guide, though we would recommend mixing it in as Johnstone’s describe.

Drying Time

Drying and recoat times are set by the floor coating you are using rather than the additive itself. As a guide, expect 16 to 24 hours before recoating. Always check the tin of the floor paint you are mixing it into.

Sizes Available

Supplied in a 1.5kg pack. That covers most jobs, and you can use more than one pack on a large floor if you want a heavier texture throughout.
