Fit For The Job Sandpaper is a straightforward silicon carbide abrasive for general sanding around the house. Wood, metal, plaster, and filler all take it, whether you are working by hand or wrapped round a sanding block.

Getting the grade right matters more than people expect. Too coarse and you scratch a surface you meant to smooth. Too fine and you are still there an hour later trying to shift old varnish. Fine, Medium, and Assorted cover the range of jobs a typical decorating project throws up.

Key Features of Fit For The Job Sandpaper
  • Durable silicon carbide abrasive
  • Gives a smooth, uniform finish
  • Sheets measure 230mm x 280mm (11″ x 9″)
  • Easily cut down to size
  • Works by hand or with a sanding block
  • Suitable for wood, metal, plaster, and fillers
  • 10 sheets per pack

Where to Use
  • Smooth planed and rough sawn wood
  • Bare and previously painted metal
  • Plaster and filler, keying it flat before painting
  • Removing old varnish and coatings
  • Light sanding between coats
  • General DIY and decorating prep

How to Use Fit For The Job Sandpaper
  1. Wrap the sheet round a sanding block, or fold it for hand use.
  2. Sand along the grain on wood, not across it.
  3. Use light, even pressure and let the abrasive do the work.
  4. Wipe away dust as you go so you can see your progress.
  5. Move to a finer grade once the coarser one has done its job.
  6. Wipe the surface clean of all dust before painting.

Choosing a Grade

Fine suits final sanding before the first coat of paint or varnish, smoothing minor imperfections, taking texture off plaster and filler, and a light key between coats. Medium handles removing varnish, smoothing imperfections, and preparing bare wood before painting. Coarse is for rough sawn wood, stripping old coatings quickly, and rounding or shaping edges. Assorted gives you all three in one pack: 3 Fine, 4 Medium, and 3 Coarse.

Sizes Available

Choose Fine, Medium, or Assorted from the options above, all in packs of 10 sheets. Fit For The Job also make a Coarse-only pack, plus 5 sheet and 25 sheet packs in each grade.

Safety & Restrictions
  • Wear a dust mask when sanding, particularly old paint
  • Wear eye protection
