Ready mixed, so no powder and no stirring a batch before you can start. Brushes onto rough or uneven plaster up to 3mm thick and bonds properly rather than sitting on top, then smooths off with the tool in the box. Good follow-on after patching with Polycell Plaster Repair, or on its own for a wall that's just a bit tired and textured. 1 litre or 2.5 litre.

Polycell Ready Mixed Finishing Skim takes a rough or uneven plaster wall and gives it a smooth, paintable surface. It comes ready mixed, so there is no powder to measure and stir, and no waiting for a batch to slake before you can use it.

It skims on up to 3mm thick and bonds strongly to plaster, which is what makes it different from a standard filler. Rather than patching individual holes, it is designed to go over a wider area and even the whole surface out in one pass.

How to Apply Polycell Finishing Skim
  1. Fill any nail or screw holes with an oil-based filler first and let them dry.
  2. Stir the tub to a smooth, even consistency.
  3. Brush the skim onto the wall in a thin, even layer.
  4. Use the included smoothing tool to level it off while it is still workable.
  5. Go back over the surface with a damp cloth or light water spray within the first few hours to smooth out any remaining marks.
  6. Leave to dry fully before sanding, priming, or painting.

Drying and Sanding

The surface firms up within a few hours, and that window is when a damp cloth or spray of water lets you smooth away minor marks with the included tool. Leave it a full day before painting or wallpapering. Applied and finished correctly with the wet-smoothing method, it needs little to no sanding — it is designed to work that way rather than being rubbed down dry afterwards.
