How to Apply Erfurt MAV Lining Paper

1. Make sure the wall is clean, dry, and free from loose material.
2. Mix a good quality ready mixed adhesive.
3. Paste the paper and leave it to soak. Allow 10 minutes, or 10 to 12 for the 1700.
4. Hang horizontally if you are papering over the top, or vertically if you are painting.
5. Butt the joints tightly rather than overlapping them.
6. Smooth out from the centre with a smoother to work air bubbles to the edges.
7. Let it dry fully before you paint or paper over it.

Choosing the Right Grade

The heavier the grade, the more it covers. Use 1200 on older plaster in sound condition, where it smooths out minor cracks and small defects. Step up to 1400 for larger cracks and more noticeable defects. Choose 1700 for older or damaged plaster, including areas that are crumbling, and for larger cracks or holes.

Single or Double Roll

A double roll is twice the length of a single, so it covers more wall and works out better value on a full room. Singles suit smaller jobs, a single wall, or topping up when you run short. Both come in every grade we stock.

New Formula Paper

Erfurt MAV have changed their base material. The original Finnish pulp source has closed, so they have developed their own paper with higher tear resistance. It looks near identical, and rolls carry a New Formula icon on the label. Erfurt MAV advise against mixing old and new rolls within the same project, so buy enough for the whole job in one go.
