How to Use the Fit For The Job Paperhanging Brush

1. Hang your drop and get it roughly in position.
2. Start at the top centre of the paper and work down the middle first.
3. Sweep out towards each edge in a herringbone pattern to push air to the sides.
4. Use light, even strokes rather than pressing hard.
5. Work the bristle tips into corners, around sockets, and along skirtings.
6. Press the seams down last, going along rather than across them.
7. Wipe any paste off the bristles with a damp cloth as you go.

Brush or Smoother

Both have a place. A plastic smoother is quicker on flat vinyl and gives more pressure, but it can burnish or mark a delicate surface. A bristle brush is gentler and gets into corners and around obstacles far better. On anything embossed, hand-printed, or expensive, use the brush.

Cleaning

Rinse the bristles in warm water as soon as you finish and work the paste out with your fingers, paying attention to the base where it collects. Dried wallpaper paste stiffens pure bristle and ruins the flexibility that makes the brush worth having. Shake the water out, reshape the head, and let it dry naturally.
