The Fit For The Job Foam Brush Set leaves no brush marks. That is the whole reason to use foam. There are no bristles to drag through the wet coating, so varnish, gloss, and stain lay down smooth and flat instead of showing every stroke.
The set contains three widths, and the foam is chisel cut so it holds a clean line. That makes these useful for cutting in along skirtings and glazing bars, where a bristle brush tends to wander.
Foam holds far more paint than bristles do, which catches people out. Load one like a normal brush and it will drip down the handle and run on the wall. Dip it lightly, squeeze the excess out, and reload often. It feels counterintuitive but it gives a much better finish.
Rinse with water for water-based products, or the right solvent for oil-based ones. Squeeze the foam gently rather than wringing it, then air dry. Be aware that foam degrades in solvents, so a brush used for gloss or varnish will not last as long as one used for emulsion. Treat these as semi-disposable rather than expecting years out of them.
Use the 1″ for glazing bars, beading, and fine detail. The 2″ suits skirtings, architrave, and door frames. The 3″ covers larger flat areas and furniture panels.
