The refill, not the whole set — no point buying another frame and tray when it's only the sleeve that's worn. Medium pile suits plaster, plasterboard, ceilings and light Artex, holding enough emulsion to cover without dripping down the pole. Fits any standard 9" x 1.5" core frame. Give it a rinse before first use so the loose fibres end up in the sink rather than your first coat.

The Fit For The Job Emulsion Roller Sleeve is the refill you need when the old one has done its work. Frames and trays last for years, sleeves do not, and there is no sense replacing a whole set when only the roller is worn.
Medium pile is the right depth for interior walls and ceilings. It picks up plenty of emulsion without becoming so loaded that it drips, and it lays the paint down flat rather than leaving a stippled texture behind.
This step gets skipped and it should not be. A new sleeve carries loose fibres from manufacture, and if you go straight to the wall those fibres end up in your first coat. You then have to sand them out. Two minutes at the sink beforehand saves that entirely.
Pile depth should suit the surface. Medium works for plaster, plasterboard, ceilings, and anything up to light Artex, which covers most interior work. For rough exterior masonry such as brick, render, or pebbledash you want a long pile instead, or the roller will skim across the high points and leave the dips bare.
Wash it out while the emulsion is still wet, working your fingers down into the pile until the water runs clear. Squeeze the excess out, reshape it by hand, and stand it on end to dry so the pile does not flatten on one side.
Supplied as a single 9″ x 1.5″ sleeve. Fit For The Job also do a three pack, plus complete sets with a frame and tray if you are starting from scratch.
